If there is to be productivity in individual lives and in the body of Christ as a whole, we have to understand how to directly apply Scriptures. In this quest, the first thing that must be understood is that there is a difference between mental assent and true faith. Mental assent is the greatest enemy of true faith and creates failure in believers. This means that if we take a head count of Christians who actually have their prayers answered through true faith, we will find a low percentage, thereby suggesting that there is a lot of failure in people’s spirits. These believers met with several brick walls in the expression of their faith until they erroneously lost faith in the power of God’s Word. This consistent inability to obtain results has now led such believers to turn to other ideologies apart from the Word of God. Consequently, it has exposed the body of Christ to an infiltration of beliefs and doctrines. The Scriptures in 1Timothy 4:1 prophesied that ‘. . . in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.’ A doctrine is a system by which things operates. Therefore the Bible is saying that believers will open themselves up to other systems through which certain things operate in order to get results in life. As pronounced by God in Genesis 11:6 (And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.), there is a level of productivity that can be achieved outside the scope of God’s express will. This level of productivity can be achieved as long as certain universal laws governing the earth are obeyed. While this could be permitted by God, it is not necessarily pleasing to the Father. As seen in 1Timothy 4:1, such operations are usually a perversion of the purposes of God’s operating systems. When the men in Genesis 11 wanted to build the tower of Babel, they were putting God’s principles of organisation and unity to work. The principles themselves were right and God admitted that the principles, as applied by those people, produced mega results. The use of the principles was however, perverted because it was motivated by personal ambition. They desired to build the tower right into heaven possibly in a bid to circumvent God’s process of accessing him. However, God still didn’t nullify the effect of His principle of unity. Rather, He simply stopped them from practicing the law. This was because He realised that once the law was fully enacted, nothing could stand in the way of its results. Only God had the inherent ability to stop the operation of the law but He did not because He is just…Be not deceived God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. ( Galatians 6:7) This means that whenever you apply God’s principles, whatever you set out to do will ALWAYS come to pass! There is, however, the need to be very cautious in the use of these laws. This is because while they can be great tools for believers who are on the right track, they could be tremendously harmful to believers who are out to satisfy their lusts.
