‘But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel’(Heb 12vs22-24).
The blood of Jesus Christ and its application in the lives of believers is very important. It is very powerful and when the blood is sprinkled you are giving voice to it. Meaning, the blood sprinkled is declaring certain things and speaking of things that are better than the blood of Abel. I will be discussing the primary weapon that God has given to us which is the blood of Jesus Christ and how we can use it in life situations.
As believers it is imperative, necessary and expedient that we get into things in life and engage ourselves in events that are described as tests, trials or as it is described in scripture temptations and tribulations. Jesus said in John 16:33, ‘these things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world’. In this scripture God wants us to have a good attitude towards trials or tests because He has overcome everything. And to overcome there are certain rules of engagement or guiding principles through which as we engage with these things, the outcome is that which God has ordained. This outcome is summed up in 2Corth 4:17, ‘For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory’. This means as we follow these rules and walk by these guidelines, an eternal weight of glory will come out of the situation.
In James 1:2 it says ‘My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations’. One of the rules or guiding principles of dealing with trials or tests is to go into it with a joyful heart. Count it all joy when it appears, rejoice over it, and don’t have any form of regret, sorrow or wonder why it is happening. Avoid any form of bitterness or anger or resentment at that particular thing and don’t have any form of remorse, regret or anger over the situation in your heart. This is a counter-intuitive method. It is different from how one will understand or emotionally respond to such a situation. This is because emotionally there is nothing to rejoice or be joyful about and also it does not fit into how we feel when we get into a difficult or challenging situation. James advised in the scriptures that if any lack wisdom and wisdom here means remarkable or unusual insight into the affairs of life – let him ask of God and God will give that person with all generosity and bless the person with insight (James1:5). Therefore, when certain things are going on around you that you do not understand, once you have insight into what really is going on and you do not connect or react to it emotionally then, the next step is to count it all joy. This reaction might not make any sense now but it will make sense to you later. Very soon you will see the reason God is telling you to ‘count it all joy’ and you will have a better understanding of the matter. Once the veil is removed, you will see the end of that particular thing and it makes sense to count it all joy that you’re in this particular situation because the beginning of a thing does not determine its end. This shows how different and unpredictable God wants every believer’s life journey to be so that at the end of the day all the glory will be given to God Almighty.
