The Power of Triumphant Faith

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast to our profession. For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we, yet without sin. let us therefore come boldly into the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help us in the time of need”. (Hebrews 4:14-16).

The mercy of God grants us access to grace in the time of need. It provides adequate help or intervention for us in situations we find ourselves in. Even if we pray and the answers we anticipate don’t seem to come immediately, yet “the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2Peter 3:9). We need to constantly remind ourselves of the above Scripture and have it echoed over and over in our minds until it is ingrained in our subconscious. God is not slack concerning His promises. He is not a man. He may not show up just when we deem it fit yet, all His actions are aligned with His purpose for us. He always fulfils His promises, making our lives beautiful in His own time.

Studying Biblical Patriarchs, we see that they encountered God in intimate practical ways. God wants us to encounter Him at that depth and even more today. Our mindset and view of Him should be such that recognises that He is yearning for more fellowship with us, He wants to answer our prayers and He is always willing to help. No matter the ordeals and challenges we face, His thought for us is that of peace, to bring us to an expected end.

Let us therefore worship God wholeheartedly because when we call He hears. The mindset that sees Him as one who delays in answering us is erroneous. We must x-ray our concept and opinion of His person always and ensure that we do not ascribe on Him a disposition that is not His. God wants us to have an accurate image of His person established in our hearts. But this can only happen when we search the Scriptures continually. It is an expression of our faith and love for Him. It shows true worship. It shows that we are firmly on God’s side no matter what the enemy shoves down our sleeves or how long the battle rages. 2 Peter 3:8 says, “…but, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” If you allow the will of God to be established in the situations of your life, the period of waiting will be like nothing when His overwhelming blessing is revealed to you.

Remain in the place of prayer, worship and continue to build up your faith through His Word. When it looks like the help you long for is taking a while to come forth, stretch out your hands to Him in worship for He is never late. He would not leave you stranded. Believe it and declare the Word- your shield of faith! God is forever faithful with His promises. He never sleeps or slumbers! He is not slack concerning His Word to you!
