“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast to our profession. For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we, yet without sin. let us therefore come boldly into the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help us in the time of need”. (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Obtaining the mercy and grace of God in the time of need refers to God’s direct intervention on matters that bother us. Divine intervention creates impact and change which most times, recipients neither expect nor deserve. The term ‘unmerited favour’ speaks of God’s intervention in the life of any individual. The degree of His impact is always far more beyond that which recipients of His favour and help could ever deserve or earn. A good case study is the life of Apostle Peter. Judging His experiences with the Lord, the extent to which he saw God’s amazing grace in his life, he acknowledged he did not deserve the honour and blessings bestowed on him.
In life, we all get to a ‘time of need’. However, every ‘time of need’ also has a season of response or answer from the Lord. The Bible says, “…seek the Lord when He can be found and call upon Him when He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6). In all situations, in spite of the seeming magnitude of the challenges we face, there is always a season of response or answer during which God intervenes in our lives to bring about the miraculous. Every temptation carries within itself a way out. God however, requires our willingness to allow Him take charge of our lives and bring forth the answers we expect.
Sadly, some Christians miss this season of response and are bitter and offended. Others subdue the feelings that their hopes have been deferred carrying on as though all is fine. In such times, God expects that we approach Him in prayers with the mind of understanding of what went wrong. There’s no doubt, God is always faithful! He alone has the answers we seek and He is ever ready to unveil the mysteries surrounding the events of our lives. ” Call on me and I will answer and show you things which you do not know….” Jeremiah 33:3.
If in your Christian walk, your practise of certain Biblical instructions does not yield the results you anticipate, you must return to God and ask Him to show you what ought to be done and the right way to do it. ” There’s a way that seems right in the eyes of man but the end thereof is destruction.”
As we wait on God to show up in our season of response, we must wholeheartedly engage the truths contained in the Word of God. His grace is made available to you at such times. Do not hold back anything from Him. Let Him work in you and through you so that His works of grace will be perfected in your life. Your season of response is here!
