Romans 8:25-26 tells us, “But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26Likewise (while we are waiting for the manifestation) the Spirit helpeth our infirmities. For we know not what to pray for.”
While you await manifestation, you have no idea what turbulence would be on the way, but you are securing the delivery of that particular answer through your words. “You know not what you should pray for as you ought but the Spirit itself maketh intercession…(Romans 8:26)”. My suggestion to you is that you view intercession as the ship bringing your answer and will deliver it to your doorstep.
The period of waiting is a period of incubation; the same period/season a hen intermittently lays over her eggs to keep them warm until they hatch. She does not just sit down to look at the eggs wondering if they will hatch; Never, she sits on the eggs KNOWING they will hatch when they are good and ready, at the right time.
In the spiritual sense, waiting is not a passive action, where you just sit down, and you are looking outside for when God will show up. It is an active effort, where the spirit becomes your burden-bearer in helping you to incubate, ‘sit over’ the word while you wait. The science behind the hen sitting on the eggs is so that the eggs can be kept at a certain temperature throughout the entire incubation period for proper development of the chickens before the eggs hatch.
As it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual. You must take time after ‘laying the eggs’ of the word to sit on the eggs until manifestation comes. This sitting on the eggs is called intercession. For there to be growth and development, you must keep the fire burning at a certain temperature until the day dawns and the day star rises, that is until there is a manifestation on the outside.
During this all-important effort, it is also as important to form the practice of combining intercession with thanksgiving. Paul told Timothy “…giving intercession and giving of thanks.” (1 Timothy 2:1). Therefore, what you do every morning and evening (the same way the hen does), offer up intercessions and thanksgiving over those specific requests you have presented to God and watch God do exactly what He has promised you in His word.
